Introduction - 14 people signed up for the Rocky Mountain School of Photography 6-day 2014 Glacier National Park Photography Workshop held from the 17th thru the 22nd of August, 2014. The event was based for the first 3 days out of the Many Glacier Hotel built by the Great Northern Railroad for tourism in 1915 on the east access to Glacier National Park on the northeast shoreline of Swiftcurrent Lake surrounded by breathtaking towering peaks. The last 3 days of the event were based out of the Belton Chalet located on the west side of the park which was the former train station, again built by the railroad to accompany tourism to the area. The event was led by professional photographer Tim Cooper and assisted by Jen Mefford. The 6-Day photographic adventure included a mixture of locations to include: Day 01 - Met in the morning at the downstairs hotel conference room at 11:00 am for group introductions, tentative schedule and an overview of planned workshop activities. After a lunch break, we headed out to Red Rock Falls for a late evening shoot. Day 02 - It was an early morning departure for a sunrise shoot from the pullout overlooking Wild Goose Island nestled along the north shoreline of St Mary Lake with the rising sun highlighting the distant mountain peaks. We stopped for breakfast at the St. Mary Park Cafe before heading back to the lodge for a lecture and photo critique that afternoon. Later that evening, we headed out for a late evening shoot of wildflowers and a waterfall along the Hidden Lake Trail at the top of Logan Pass. Day 03 - Early morning boat ride from the dock at the Many Glacier Hotel on Swiftcurrent Lake with a short hike to Grinnell Lake where we caught a second boat ride across the lake to a glacier basin for some mountain scenery shots. Following the afternoon lecture and critique, we headed out to the ridgeline overlooking the Many Glacier Hotel for some late evening sunset shots.  Day 04 - Early morning sunrise shoot of Swiftcurrent Falls located along the roadway in front of the hotel. After breakfast, it was check-out and relocate to the west side of Glacier National Park and check into the Belton Chalet for the rest of the workshop. After an afternoon photo critique, we headed to McDonald Creek Falls for a late afternoon shoot before calling it a day. Day 05 - The morning shoot was cancelled due to rain, so after a late breakfast at Apgar Village followed by an afternoon critique, we headed over Logan Pass first to Siyeh Bend and then to Lunch Creek for some waterfall and wildflower shots. Day 06 - The final day of the workshop began with a morning shoot along the Trail of the Cedars of the moss-covered vegetation and following the trail along the creek to Avalanche Gorge. After an afternoon critique, we viewed the final slideshow presentation, which ended the workshop. That evening we had our final group dinner at the Belton Chalet and departed the next day.

Event Summary - The gallery contains photographs taken each day of the event beginning with a schedule of that day’s activities, a map of where we went and photos of the participants showing field conditions encountered, photographic equipment used and the instructors interfacing with the participants. The gallery provides a documentary of where we went, what we did and the photo opportunities each of us experienced during the event. All of us want to thank Tim Cooper and Jen for their guidance, patience and photography tips that allowed us to properly capture the photographic opportunities we experienced during the workshop. The lectures were very appropriate for the field conditions we experienced and we were able to apply them with a little help, of course….JDT
